The Arizona Twin/Twin is a good choice if you are searching for an inexpensive bunk bed that is both modern and traditional at the same time. The straight clean lines give this bed a contemporary feel, while the rounded vertical slats provide for that classic missionary effect. The bed is available in twin over twin size only. As is the case with all Atlantic Furniture bunk beds it is made of Asian eco-friendly hardwood -- valued for its dense grain, stability, attractive color and acceptance of different finishes. Over two dozen steel reinforcement points, mortise and tenon joinery, and solid hardwood slat kits vouch for a sturdy build. With three different finishes to choose from, this bunk bed will fit into most environments. Under bed drawers and trundle bed are available as options, to help you make the most out of the otherwise useless space below the bed.
Let's see what the actual buyers have to say about this product.
Durability -- sturdiness, build quality is what most of the reviewers underscore as the main quality of Atlantic Furniture products, and the Arizona bed is no exception. Quite often there is an element of surprise there, as if the users just hadn't expected such high level of craftsmanship from a $500 bed. The product is described as beautiful; of solid quality; well put together; comfortable; solidly constructed. Accented several times is the lack of squeaking -- it's actually one of the most reiterated things regarding the Arizona bunk bed. More than one reviewer even went as far as to foretell the future and declare their belief that the bed is going to last a while (many years) and will be able to take a lot of abuse.
Ease of assembly -- "easy to assemble" is one of the most often repeated phrases associated with this bunk bed for kids. Most users managed to put it together in a few hours or less, but it was mentioned several times that it took two people to do it. Apparently, the most challenging part of the assembly is getting the wooden slats into place -- but more on that in "the not so good" section.
Drawers -- many users recommend getting the bed with the under bed storage drawers. They are described as enormous, deep, well constructed -- providing plenty of space for blankets, extra bedding and such. The drawers are not part of the bed frame; they have rollers fit on the bottom and are just, well, rolled under the bed. This brings up a question of their functionality on floors covered with thicker carpets; opinions on that vary.
By and large the comments on this bed are positive. However, some issues, as always, are inevitable. One user reported the slats broke after a week of use by a 12 year old and had to be replaced. Several reviewers mentioned that some of the slats used for mattress support were too long and needed to be shortened (well, as long as they weren't too short, right?). A few people complained that the ladder they received was not the same as pictured on the Internet. Apparently they were sent the ladders that reach all the way down to the floor, while most of the images feature the clip-on ladders. If this is a big deal to you, it might be a good idea to enquire about it at the online store before making a purchase.
If you are looking for an inexpensive but quality wood bunk bed for around $500, you probably need not look any further. If it's to believe the people who have actually bought it, we're talking of one sturdy, well-crafted piece of kids furniture. Furthermore, it looks good, it is easy to put together and will not cost you and arm and leg.
