Review

The Carolina Retreat Bunk Bed sports a picturesque country look in a casual Cottage White finish. Crafted from selected hardwoods with thick inset panels and adorned with beautifully shaped bun foot, heavy base moldings and gently arched crown moldings, this bed is both sturdy and a pleasure to look at -- adaptable to any age and any environment. Available as a separate option is the matching Dual Function Underbed Unit which can be used for storage and also as an additional bed when needed. The structure can be split into two individual, identical looking beds -- unlike most other bunk beds where one bed's head/foot board is significantly taller than the other's.

The following is a brief summary of buyers' opinions on this product.

The Good

Attractiveness -- we have a very attractive looking bunkbed here and there is not a single reviewer out there that does not agree with that assessment. Absolutely beautiful; absolutely gorgeous; beautiful piece of furniture; really attractive; very pretty -- these are just a few of the phrases used to convey the users' delight with the appearance of Carolina Retreat bunk bed. However, one thing needs to be mentioned here: the color of this bed is not white. The description says this product comes in Cottage White finish; according to reports, in reality this looks far more like creamy off-white rather than an actual normal white. The color of the bed has caught quite a few buyers in surprise; many have embraced it and declared the bed still looks great and some have even said the cream color complements the other furniture in the room better. That said, there are also those who were not happy about this discovery -- more on that in "the not so good" section below.

Durability -- the product's quality of build and sturdiness are heavily complimented by users. Expressions are used such as: VERY sturdy; durable; great craftsmanship; heavy and solid; very well built; sturdy enough to let adult guest sleep on it -- it gets quite repetitive, really.

The Not So Good

As mentioned above, this bed is not shiny white in color, and some reviewers expressed their surprise and disappointment about that. So, buyer beware. However, if you check the images in the column to the right you'll notice the bed does not really look completely white, does it? The image may not convey the actual product's color very accurately, but it does hint at it, sort of, and this is not due to the low quality of the image or anything like that -- and most buyers probably thought this was exactly the case. Of other complaints, the surface is said to show fingerprints quite easily (it can get dinged up easily, as one reviewer put it), but a little polish reportedly does the trick. There is also a mention of 4 gold stickers which apparently are very difficult to remove. One user complained about cracked paint, and another reported that the bed was not assembled as per contract, just dumped off at the house -- this doesn't really have anything to do with the actual quality of this bunk bed, but we thought we should mention it just to show that such things can happen too.
