Buyers on Maxtrix Bunk Beds:
difficult to assemble
This configuration provides an amazing amount of storage considering how little space it occupies. It consists of Maxtrix's ever so popular Low / Easy Rider Loft Bed (if you're wondering what's the difference, the Low Rider features straight ladder and the Easy Rider angled one), a 6-drawer dresser, plus an additional 3-drawer dresser that goes under the bed from the front side. The storage units are designed to fit under the low loft perfectly, creating a seamless and stylish look. Well, perhaps not entirely seamless; the 3-drawer dresser does protrude some 3 or 4 inches outside the edge of the bed, but but you probably won't take that in bad part considering how much additional storage space it provides.
A word or two on drawer construction: they are crafted entirely of solid hardwood using English Dovetail joints, which provides a long lasting, superior connection between the drawer fronts and sides. The smooth-running, ball bearing, self-closing drawer glides are mounted underneath the drawers -- this way they allow for a much higher weight-bearing capacity with less shimmer. The images below show a both of these features from different angles - Click to Enlarge.
The loft bed itself is also made of solid birch hardwood -- the fact that speaks well for its durability. In addition, Maxtrix offers a 5 year limited warranty for factory related defects (materials and workmanship).
There are two types of ladders available for this loft bed: the straight and the angled. The straight ladder takes less space, so it might be a better option for smaller rooms. It also doesn't get in the way when cleaning takes place and kids won't trip over it when running around. The angled ladder, on the other hand, offers a more comfortable and easier climb to the top bed, but at a cost of taking up more space. In addition, it comes with a sturdy metal handrail which is a rather unique extra safety measure. It is altogether a somewhat fancier option, so it's not a surprise that it also costs a bit more. Note that both types of ladders feature extra wide grooved steps for a safe and comfortable access to the loft bed, and can be mounted on either side of the structure. As is the case with all Maxtrix's kids loft beds, this one too comes as part of their adaptable bed building system. How does that work? Thanks to the innovative ROCK LOCK™ leg extensions, a regular bed can be converted into a Low, Mid, High Loft or Bunk Bed. Bed conversions are easy and safe as Maxtrix's system compresses the leg extensions onto the bed legs, via a steel bolt, and includes set screws that wedge themselves into the bolt opening -- the result should be a rock solid connection.
Finally, we should note that at Maxtrix special attention is being paid to the safety department: all Maxtrix Kids products have been tested by independent laboratories and have been declared to meet both mandatory and voluntary regulations and in some cases even exceed them: the safety rails height and the bed weight limit are good examples.
