Introduction
Now here’s something different. This unconventional loft bed is being marketed as the epitome of modern sophistication, and boy does that hit the nail on the head. From the smooth rounded legs (I first thought they were made of metal), to the soft padded sides upholstered in plush sheepskin fabric, this thing just oozes sophistication, elegance, comfort. And that gold-and-white finish… Kudos to the designers for having the mettle to try something different.
Just so you wouldn’t think this loft bed is all show and no substance, let me inform you that its specified weight capacity is an excellent 400 lbs. Plenty of similar lofts are specced at 200 lbs or even less. The 14 included mattress slats are doing their job, it would seem.
The list of materials used for construction includes solid pine wood, plywood and MDF. Solid wood is likely used for structural duties, the legs, rails, ladder. The desk and the four-drawer cabinet look like MDF to me.
Alongside those four drawers there are three shelves that are just perfect for storing books and other study material. To the student sitting at the desk on the opposite side everything is at arm’s length.
The desk surface, you may have noticed, is foldable, revealing some more storage space. It’s not much, but it’ll hold some pencils and smaller student accessories.
You may also have noticed that the height of the desk is specced at 25 inches, which you might (understandably) consider a little low. But that, apparently, is the measurement from the floor to the bottom edge of the box that constitutes the desk and which is about five inches thick. That brings us to the height of 30 inches or thereabouts for the actual desk surface, the usual for a study desk.
The guardrail height on this loft bed is specced at 14 inches, plenty enough for the recommended 6 inch mattress. You could actually go with an 8 inch mattress and still be comfortably in compliance with the safety standards.
The Teddy Fleece loft bed is available in three finishes: gold, gray and white.
They all look fantastic, but one thing does jump out at me and that’s the back side of the storage cabinet. With that natural finish, it stands out rather unnaturally on both the gray and white bed. The gold one looks okay to me.
Of course, if you have the option to place the headboard side of the bed against the wall, that’s problem solved for you.
Full Size Aloisie Teddy Fleece Loft Bed
The full (double) size version of this loft bed is available too. The increased width not only enhances the sleeping comfort, but also adds to the storage space, as both the drawers and the book shelves gain some on width. Naturally, the desk also gets wider and more comfortable.
One other thing that certainly deserves a mention is the increased weight capacity, which for the full version of this loft bed is 600 lbs. This is due to the additional rod which runs perpendicularly to the mattress slats for more support. You can sort of see part of it in the image below. If you look carefully.

The ratings at Wayfair were all five star, but of course the sampling is way too small to draw any conclusions. When there’s more buyer feedback available, I’ll update this page.
