Twin Size Loft Beds

Classic Twin Size Loft Bed with bookcase in white finish.

A twin size loft bed features a mattress the size of 38 x 75 inches, and it usually serves to provide accommodation for a single child of younger age, typically below 12 — older kids are likely to appreciate a bit more space and may require a full size loft bed instead.

For a piece of furniture to be characterized as a loft bed, the bedframe has to be raised off the ground high enough so that the space underneath can be utilized in a productive manner — therefore, the primary use for loft beds is that of space saving nature. The newly liberated room underneath the bed can be left empty to serve as a playground, but can also accommodate a study desk, storage furniture, another bed — there is a number of choices, really, and manufacturers often offer options designed specifically to go with the main product that fit the space under the loft perfectly.

Twin loft beds come in different styles, colors, configurations, materials. Let’s start with a few bare-bones specimens.

Twin Size Low Loft Beds

Continuing with bare bones, only at lower heights. Both of the beds above are made of solid wood, boast a respectable weight capacity and have gathered hundreds of positive reviews.

Twin Loft Beds With Slide

Continuing with low height lofts. Finding a slide attached to something taller is a rarity. You don’t want the kids to arrive at the bottom of the slide with an inordinately high velocity, trust me.

Twin Size Loft Beds With Tent

Proceeding with low lofts, although these simple wrap-around curtains do come with higher loft beds as well. A tent up top, that’s another matter. Especially if the tower with the little flag on top is included as well. Strapping something like that on a regular-height loft bed would require a pretty high ceiling.

Twin Size Loft Beds With Storage

Moving on. From fun to function. The Ilario bed pictured above packs some serious storage space. And it’s made of acacia tree, can you believe that? The Aloisie loft can’t really compare, storage wise, although it did make a decent effort, let’s give it that. But just look at how cute it is, all gold and white and elegant, sides padded with sheepskin fabric… It even comes with a small desk! Take that, Ilario.

Twin Loft Beds With Desk

Why doesn’t each and every loft bed have at least a desk fitted underneath is beyond me. It’s a no brainer. A desk is always useful. Always. Plus it serves as a binding element and makes everything less wobbly. This of course doesn’t apply to low loft beds (obviously), you can’t have a desk there unless it’s a pull-out, but… Well, you know what I mean.

Twin Size Loft Beds With Stairs

This Heiki loft bed that looks like a twin/full bunk bed but it’s not, well, they managed to stuff in some serious storage capacity into that staircase. And there’s still another big drawer plus some nooks in that cabinet at the other side. And a desk. What did I tell you? A desk. Fabulous. The white Max & Lily low loft, on the other hand, has no drawers, even though it may look like it does. But no. Those are not drawers. Just storage cubes that can be accessed from the side. Other than that, it’s a great little bed in every aspect.

Metal Twin Size Loft Beds

Another one with a desk. That’s what I’m talking about. And the low loft, Jett Junior, is an absolute hit with hundreds upon hundreds of five-star ratings to its name. And it’s as inexpensive as they get. And available in pink!
