Introduction
The Cvyatko Full Over Full Low Height Bunk Bed features a traditional curved design with horizontal slats. Those thick (2×2 inches) posts and hefty side rails inspire confidence at first glance.
The bed’s low height comes with some advantages and some drawbacks. The advantages are, it will fit into pretty much any room, no matter how low the ceiling is. Also, if you’re concerned about your little one climbing up/down and sleeping high up there, this bed, with its top bunk mattress only about 40 inches above ground (or so, this is just my estimate), should give you some peace of mind.
The downsides: there’s no room below the bed and not that much headspace on the lower bunk.
The accompanying document for this bunk bed states that the weight limit is 250 lbs per level. Meaning both the top and the lower bunk have been tested to withstand 250 lbs of weight. This is a little odd, seeing how the top bunk features 13 densely arranged mattress slats spaced only 3.5 inches apart, and combines that with a centered support rod, while the lower bunk only has 7 slats and no support rod. I guess whoever designed this bunk bed felt there is no need for anything more since those slats are hovering barely an inch or so above the floor. And if they do bend, well, the floor will provide support.
The guardrail height on the top bunk is 11 inches. That’s a little low. With a recommended 6 inch mattress this leaves 5 inches of safety space to the top of the rail, just about enough to be compliant with the safety regulations.
The available headspace on the bottom bunk is specified at 23.4 inches at the retailer’s website. Looking at the measurements image below I’m not sure how that figure makes sense unless it includes a 5 or maybe 6 inch mattress. In any case, there’s not a whole lot of room down there, so keep that in mind.
Side note: the specs on this bunk bed at Wayfair’s website should be taken with half a grain of salt, in my opinion. They have one page covering both the twin/twin and the full/full versions and now and then the facts and specifications do get mixed up.
The ladder is vertical and clipped on and can only be attached to the left side of the bed as pictured. You can turn it upside down, though; if you look closely at the available images, on most of them (like the one below) the top rung of the ladder is flush with the bottom edge of the top bunk’s side rail. Scroll down a bit further, though, and notice in that full image of the mocha version how the ladder looks a bit different, with some space between the top step and the top bunk’s side rail. I guess it’s up to you to decide which of these positions would facilitate the access to the top bed.
Two finishes are available: mocha and white.
The bunk bed can be separated into two individual units. While this does not look very, how should I put it, symmetrical, it’ll serve the purpose just fine.
What Users Say About Cvyatko Full Over Full Low Height Bunk Bed
At the time of this writing there were over 5600 ratings for this bunk bed on Wayfair alone. Over 70% of reviewers gave the bed 5 stars, while 2.7% gave it a 1 star. That’s not too shabby, as far as online ratings go, but: you need to be aware that those ratings cover both the twin and the full version of this bunk bed. Why am I telling you this? Because I noticed the twin version gets quite a bit more negative reviews due to some factors that are relevant to that version only. And what, you ask, are all those reviewers saying?
The Pros
They like the bed mostly for its good looks and sturdiness. Beautiful, real wood with a perfect finish, one user wrote. Pretty sturdy for the price point, another one pointed out. Very sturdy and gorgeous, yet another amplified the argument. One buyer called it a great piece of furniture. Another exalted that these (beds) turned out amazing. Several reviewers wrote the quality was much better than expected.
Many users feel the lower bunk is great for toddlers, to transition from a crib.
The assembly is reportedly not very difficult. A lot of parts, takes some time, but the directions are said to be clear and easy to follow.
The Cons
As for negative reviews, there are of course some. A few buyers complained of damaged pieces, cracked wood, miscellaneous marks and dents. This is the case with pretty much any bunk bed out there. One user wrote the wood was weak and kept falling apart. Another complained about the many small stickers that do not peel off easily (Yeah. Don’t you just hate that?)
Some users complain about not enough space on the lower bunk, but this is beside the point. It goes with the territory. How are they going to make a low bunk bed if not by cutting on some vertical space?
Finally, there are quite a few complaints about the mattress slats, specifically how they are supposed to be mounted vertically, which apparently caused some problems for some people. However, please note that this is pertinent to the twin size version of this bunk bed only. The full size bed reviewed here features the slats mounted in a normal horizontal fashion. And it actually has great mattress support. Well, at least on the top bunk.
Bottom Line
With thousands of ratings out there, you could say this full over full bunk bed has sort of passed the test of time. Sturdy both in appearance and according to buyers; made of solid wood; offers good mattress support on the top bunk — there’s little not to like about it.
