There are several good reasons why buying a bunk bed with stairs is a good idea, but one of them stands head and shoulders above the rest: safety. If you are thinking of getting a bunk or loft bed for the kids’ room — but shudder at a mere thought of your precious one(s) climbing that ladder up and down over and again, then you really have only one choice: bunk bed with stairs.
A stairway represents by far the safest and easiest way to reach the top bunk. Period. Especially when designed and constructed properly: with broad, generous steps with non-slid treads plus a handrail, all of which allows for a comfortable and safe access to the top bed.
In addition to providing peace of mind to parents, a staircase can also contribute some extra storage space, since each of the stairs can and usually does house a spacious drawer. Furthermore, stairways are also known to be used as a stadium-style seating area for family & friend get-togethers.
Downsides? A staircase takes some space, but one could argue that the built in drawers more than make up for it. The whole configuration will also cost more, since producing a stairway is quite a bit more complex than producing a simple ladder.
Twin Over Twin Bunk Beds With Stairs
Some standard height twin size bunk beds with integrated staircase. The Ahmia bed has a storage drawer built into each step. The Classic bunk bed does not have a drawer per se, but there is space in there that you can access from behind and, well, store things.
Twin Over Full Bunk Beds With Staircase
The same two beds as above, only in twin/full configuration. The Ahmia bed transforms from twin/twin to twin/full with an extension which is affixed to the main structure. This could mean you could start off with a twin-over-twin version and turn it into a twin-over-full later on.
Full Over Full Bunk Beds With Stairs
The Woodland is an AFI Furnishings bed, hence made of rubberwood. The stairs have no drawers here, only open storage space, which has a beneficial effect on the price. The full over full without a name sports a similar concept. Being made of solid pine wood and MDF (those shelves, likely), it is even more affordable.
Low Height Bunk Beds With Staircase
Not many of these around. Going with the Max & Lily Classic is probably your best bet. These Classic low height bunk beds do also come equipped with a slide or an under bed tent. Or both.
Metal Bunk Beds With Stairs
Metal bunk beds with stairs are a bit of a rarity as well but I did manage to find a couple. The Reva is available in black and white and also in a twin/full configuration. The Akbez comes with a trundle bed and can be had in silver finish too.
