Introduction
This is the twin sized version of the Tribeca Full Size Low Loft Bed (branded Alique at Wayfair) I already reviewed. The two are very similar, of course, but there are a couple of differences. It is the same horizontal slat design except narrower, making it even more suitable for smaller rooms. From what I gather reading the reviews, a lot of parents are getting this bed for their 3-4 year old kids with the aim to transition them from cribs and toddler beds to their first big girl/boy bed. The cool factor of the elevated design might just help with that.
Another difference between the full and twin version is the specified weight support. While the former is built to handle 500 lbs, the twin version is specced at 300 lbs. It’s still a high figure for this sort of bed though. Looking at the mattress support system in the image below, I can’t help but feel they went a little conservative with that number. It features the same 14 densely spaced slats as the full version. The difference is, there is only one centered support rod here, but, taking into account that the bed is narrower, this makes sense.
The bed is crafted of solid pine wood. Couldn’t tell you its exact origin, though.
The height of the guardrail on this bed is 13.75″, and the maximum thickness of the mattress as specified by the manufacturer is 8 inches. The ladder’s vertical, features three nice wide rungs and can be attached to either side of the bed.
The Tribeca loft bed is available in five different finishes: gray, white, cappuccino, blue and pink. Note that some of the images below actually depict the full version of this loft bed and are meant only for you to get acquainted with the available colors.
What Users Say About Tribeca Low Loft Bed
At the time of this writing there were over 1500 ratings for this loft bed on Wayfair alone. The average rating was 4.6 stars. Almost three quarters of the reviewers gave the Tribeca low loft bed 5 stars. Less than 2% gave it a one star.
The Pros
The bed gets high praise on both the looks and build quality. Sturdiness, as probably the most important thing, gets mentioned a lot. The bed is being called anything from ‘very sturdy’ to ‘extremely sturdy’ and all the shades in between.
Same goes for the appearance. Some call it merely ‘nice looking,’ some go for ‘beautiful,’ but I’ve also seen one buyer write that in person it is ‘absolutely gorgeous.’
Users do not overlook the pragmatic side of a lofted bed, for storing stuff underneath. The twin size though, with its smaller footprint, is somewhat less useful in that regard. But it’ll still do great as a play area.
By most accounts, the assembly of this loft bed should not be too difficult. Some suggest the use of power tools, others disagree for the fear of stripping the screws and recommend using the included wrench, however much longer the process might take.
The Cons
With so many reviews out there, there of course has to be some negative ones as well. Mostly it’s the standard stuff: damaged parts, like small dents, scratches or cracks. Missing pieces. Parts broken after some use. It happens. Usually the reviewers experiencing such issues give the product a one star rating and, as stated above, there are only about 1.7% of these. So chances are very good you’ll escape such an outcome.
Bottom Line
The Tribeca Low Loft Bed looks great, has gathered like a ton of positive reviews about its build quality, its mattress support is second to none and you get all that for a quite reasonable price. Definitely deserves to go on your shortlist.
